Ages birth - upcoming 5th graders
June 1st - July 17th, 2009

Reading for Time

Track your time spent reading this summer and receive prizes! Upcoming 5th graders and younger will receive a time sheet upon registration at the library.

Children that are not reading independently can have an older child, parent or caregiver read to them. This is a family literacy event and we strongly encourage you to enjoy your children’s books with them.

Record your time and bring the sheet with you each time you visit the library to receive coupons for reaching the following goals.

Prizes earned at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 hours. These include book bags, stickers, food coupons, certificates, etc.

Those readers completing 20 hours will receive a free pass to a Library Skating Party at Fun Wheels on
Saturday, July 25th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.


StoryHour
These shows may contain one or more of the following: storytellers, puppets, magicians, music and drama. Recommended for ages 4 thru 12.

All shows begin promptly at 11:00am

Pet Adoption Event from 1pm to 4pm & Showing of Hotel For Dogs movie 2pm.
Please join us for a Pet Adoption Day Event.
Several furry friends will be available for adoption at the library this day. Save a life. Adopt a pet!
Also accepting donations of bags of dry pet food.
Movie will begin at 2:00pm

Southeastern Reptile Rescue will present a fun & exciting show filled with those “cuddly” critters that slither. Fun for all ages. Make this a Friday– Family Night!

Works of Art Scavenger Hunt June 1 - July 17
Sponsored by Booth Western Art Museum in downtown Cartersville.
Decipher our riddles to find the 6 locations around Cedartown where you can find the priceless works of “Art”. Find all six and earn a prize!

Coloring Contest June 1 –July 10
Prizes awarded by age divisions.

Guess How Many June 1 - July 10
Can you guess how many crayons there are in the jar? 1 guess per person.

Recycle Art June 1-July 10
Design your own art from recycled materials no larger than 12 inches in diameter or 12 inches high. 1 child per entry. Ages 5 - 11.

Creative Writing Contest June 1 - July 10
Write a 1 page story about summer fun in Cedartown. For upcoming 2nd thru upcoming 5th graders.

Art Gallery & Photo Display June 1 - July 10 (4yrs –16yrs)
Bring in your best art or photo and we will display them gallery style for the community to enjoy all summer. No judging. No prizes. Just fun!
Free Movies!
The library will be showing FREE movies this summer as part of the reading club.
Teen Tuesdays at 2pm (ratings PG or PG13) Popcorn .25 cents
Thursday Theatre at 10am and 2pm(ratings G or PG) Popcorn .25 cents
